Bluebird powder day today! Loads of snow, though lots of it quite wind affected, everywhere. Rauz was excellent and Zurs still had fresh lines to be had when I left this afternoon. It was getting pretty warm today later on so the snow will be firm and crusty tomorrow but should be excellent by midmorning.

Conditions were perfect on Thursday as we headed to the furthest point on the piste map - Torgon! The restaurant at the top of the Tronchey chair has amazing views over Lake Geneva and is definetely worth the several (very quiet) drag lifts it takes to get there. Linga and Plaine Dranse on the way back over were very busy and we should expect this to continue now until the end of February. But it is dumping today and more snow is forecast tomorrow so the pre-half term week should be pretty cool...

It snowed AGAIN heavily last night, about 3 inches as far as resort, not yet been up top yet as Ahlenmahder, Schindler and Valfagher bahns are all closed at the moment. On a word of warning, anyone coming out here and skiing off piste take note there have been 4 avalanche deaths in the last three days and more burials that were dug out, significantly in Hinter Rendl. It's snowing!! The snow has been falling steadily over night and today, just in time for change over day tomorrow.....oh goody!! The good news is that it is once again refreshing the pistes so they remain in great condition and topping up the off piste for more fresh tracks. The French, some British and Dutch school holidays are upon us so we are expecting an increase in people next week. The British school hols start in force the week after, so things will be far busier on the slopes and in lift lines. The forecast as I write is for more snow tomorrow with sunshine on Sunday and Monday the freezing levels remain around 1200 metres. |

It's snowing pretty hard in resort this morning and that's on the back of a pretty good fall last weekend of over a foot. In fact last weekend we were even catching fresh tracks down the pistes with 25cm of fresh, light snow on a nicely groomed base. Forecasts say it'll be heaviest between midday and 1400, so more to come... |

The feb snow is starting to come....hopefully! snowed lightly in the villages and on all the mountains over the weekend but sunshine has definitely been holding it better. Lake louise has been pretty hard and icy until the sun softens things up a bit. Sunshine has got more snow and the groomers and park are in very good condition, there was even a fair bit of loose, fresh snow about today. Hope it keeps snowing! |

It's still very cold here, the warmest place and bst viz is in the trees! Snow condtions on piste are very good but there are some icy bits in the well used parts. Been skiing down to Montalbert where the pistes are in good condition, there are a few man made snow piles about so things are looking good long term. As I write this things seem to be a bit brighter and Mont Blanc is basking in sunshine! Tomorrow looks like it may be warmer with some sun, hope so! So the dump of snow we have been due for the past 2 weeks had finaly hit...big time! It's been snowing hard for 18 hours now and things are loading up nicely! The World Economic Forum is currently taking place in Davos so the town is packed and the slopes are empty.......the worlds press are'nt big on skiing it seems although Bill Gates and MR Clinton rolled into town today so maybe I'll bump into one of them (and cover them in snow!)
We've had excellent piste conditions for most of the seaaon and everything is open. Our pipes and parks have been hugly updated and built up this year so be sure to check them out if for no other reason that to see how ridiculously HUGE our kickers are! With all this snowing coming down we'll be right back up to speed off piste as well. Be warned though that the Avalanche risk will be high due to the sheer volume of snow coming down. Check SLF.CH for local avalanch bullitins in English. Now go get your shred on! |

Winter has started up again. Its been snowing all day down to resort level, with howling winds up on the hill and limited vis. Its due to carry on and off for the next 4 days. Its staying really cold still so the snow should stick around but the suggestion is that if a lot of snow falls it will be unsafe for much off piste and the higher lifts may close temporarily. Rendl was great today, quiet and pockets of softer windblown snow. Next week beckons to be a good one.

Plenty of snow, a new park, two super pipes and we're only five weeks in! Conditions are excellent and that's down to the temperature. Last significant snowfall was over 2 weeks ago but it's been so cold and quiet that piste, park and pipe conditions are amazing! We have just played host to the 6* TTR event 'The O'Neill Evolution' in Davos and it went off! The best riders from around the world putting down their stuff in our 24ft walled super pipe and custom built slopestyle course. Check out the pics! Oh, and by the way they have left everything in for us to play on....gulp! We have had sporadic snow showers putting a few inches on top of things three or four times in the last two weeks but by and large most of the accessible off piste is needing a good dump! That said our conditions have been considerably safer than lots of places around Europe as we have maintained such low temperatures. Assuming that stays the case our next dump will consolidate with the current snow pack making for some truly epic conditions....I can't wait! Everything in resort is open and good to go including the recently re-opened Shatzalp bahn...a freeride mecca that's been closed for six years! This place is legendary! Catch up with our video snow reports on www.Snoveo.com and check out our latest pictures and videos on our site www.Synergysnowsports.com. Another blue sky day in Paradiski. Today we made the interesting journey on skis from La Plagne to Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express cable car. Our goal was the peak of Aguille Rouge which has spectacular views of Mont Blanc. On the way we saw the search and rescue dogs training in the aptly named Avalanche Park at the top of the Trans Arcs bubble. It seemed slightly warmer today at about minus 5 but the snow on and off piste was in good shape. The leg burner from the top of the Arpette back to Plan Peisey still does not disappoint. Skied this morning Saturday. The conditions on piste are packed powder with a few centimetres of fresh snow . Off piste lots of fresh powder to enjoy. This morning was particularly good as it was transfer day and the slopes were very quiet. More interesting was the weather as it was skiing between two layers of cloud one at 1800 metres and the other over 3000 metres. The icy January sun gave enough brightness to guide the way and make for a really good ski. On the lower slopes beware of the odd icy spot ...oops! Great day's skiing in Bad KleinKirchheim, or BKK as it's known by the Brits. Mainly overcast with some sunny periods towards the end of the day, and a dusting of snow throughout the day. More is forecast for tomorrow - some are saying up to half a metre. Pistes are in great condition and staying that way throughout the day - fantastically groomed and not too hard or icy. No off piste really available unfortunately as not enough snow, but the slopes are very quiet so great fun for letting rip on. |

Awoke with high expectations that were instantly shattered the moment I heard the snow report - TRACE. That's our mountain's way of saying, "nice try, thanks for calling, would you like to buy a ski in-ski out condo perhaps?" All jokes aside. Looking at radar now there is cause for alarm as it seems the storm has passed us to the north. I will update tomorrow as it looks like it may kick in later today after all. ARTIC chill passing through the entire USA. For us that means highs in the single digits fahrenheit and wind gusts above 60mph the next 2 days. Backcountry avalanche danger will rise with or without fresh snow. |

Despite the doom and gloom and rumours, it's absolutely amazing here in Verbier: sun's out, skies are blue, fresh snow and everything's open. Including Mont Fort. Now there have been people spreading the rumour it'd be shut all winter. Don't know who started that but the lifties told me weeks ago it'd be fine and just needed enough snow to repair the damage done when it was blasted at the start of the season and two massive slides went off. So now it's up and running and the best view on the planet are back... Oh, and it's snowing again this week. Bring it. |

Of course the flip side to this is the tree lines have loaded up making them a lot of fun indeed! All areas are open as is the new and much improved park on Jakobshorn. The superpipe on Bolgen was cut for the final time today and will be open from 28 December in preraration for the 6 Star TTR event here from the 6th - 9th January, the O'Neill Evolution.

18 December 2009 |

After a first week of the La Tania lifts being open we've had a great week with loads of fresh tracks last weekend high up, especially above 1650 where there was some great snow. Lower pistes were a mass of snow cannon mounds as they prepare to open most runs by Sunday. Later in the day the resort level runs becoming harder with some icy spots - nothing unusual in that for December mind. Sub minus 10 temperatures too and by late afternoon there was hardly anyone about skiing although Val Thorens was noticably more busy than the Meribel and Courchevel Valleys. Good news is that it's snowing once again today and La Tania locals Gaz & Kurt have just come down the terrifying Telepherique run off Saulire (under the cable car) - unbelievable to think this was marked as a piste in the 90's or am I getting soft? They report 15cm of fresh up there, looks like some more on the way just in time for Christmas... |

Up on the glacier conditions are good, not all of the runs are open and off piste is variable but there is some great early skiing to be had.

I know its only mid december, but today was definately the best day so far - still snow at resort level, clear in the mornng but clouding up later, but high up it was sunshine, no wind and still fresh tracks to be had from Schindler into Mattun bowl and from Albonagrat in Stuben. In the shade the off piste is light and cold, though some of the more heavily used pistes are firming up later in the day. Cheers, Duncan. |

Friday 11 Dec - snowed all day at resort level, about half the mountain open (Happy valley closed unfortunately) but visibility quite milky at times with a blisteringly cold wind putting a few people off. Those that stuck with it were rewarded with light cold powder right beside the piste. Awesome.

After getting told on the news that the visability was "poor" in Swiss ski resorts last night I had to shout at the telly quite a lot - we were above the (light wispy) cloud all day yesterday as it was hanging about well below 1800m. So Ruinettes was in amazing sunshine virtually all day and you could see for miles. The conditions were great on piste too - as long as you kept warm enough as it's pretty chilly up there. And it's about to get properly cold as forecasts say we could get down to minus 20 at night this week... Hope that helps - and don't believe the Sky News ski resort summary. Fools.... |

Here we go! Special thanks to Tony C for his input. After some heavy rain at the begining of last week the conditions are ok, the pisteurs have been working very hard and it has paid off. The pistes to resort are good with some icy bits as you would expect on a mix of mostly man made and natural snow. The higher runs at Arpette and Leversett are good and there is a dusting of powder at Roche de Mio and under the La Rossa chair. The forecast for the coming week is very cold and sunny. Let the snow dancing begin!!! |

Snow has finally started falling. After a week of clear skies a dense patch of cloud moved in last night. It started snowing yesterday afternoon and continued until this morning which added a much needed 3 or 4 inches to the base. Clouds are still looming over the Villeneuve area which should hopefully bring another substantial fall tonight. As of yet only the Monetier area is open for public access with four lifts running.

A bit of a thaw during the week at Cairngorm, with a less snowy picture this weekend. The high pressure has meant nice weather for being up the mountain, but has stopped any further snowfall. A temperature inversion at the moment has temperatures as low as minus 7 in the valley but 0 degrees at the summit meaning the lower slopes are quite icy. 4 lifts open at Cairngorm including the funicular, perhaps a bit more next week with more snow forecast.

Wolf Creek, Colorado (lots of snow) |

Skied Wolf Creek Resort in the south of Colorado this past Wednesday/Thursday, where they received 51" out of the latest storm. Nice to finally be skiing some powder/trees, with 100% of the mountain OPEN. Back to Winter Park now, where we got a measley couple of inches out of the latest storm. Regardless, new terrain is opening every couple days on man made snow, meaning the Mary Jane side of the mountain is now open. |

natives snow news - snow reports you can trust!

Lots more snow overnight and staying very cold throughout the week ahead. The Official Measuring Table showing 20cm of fresh snow falling down to resort level with lots more higher up.
At 5pm yesterday we had 11cm of fresh snow down to resort level as shown on the Officla La Tania Snow Measurement Table. With it still snowing hard there should be some deep accumulations higher up this morning although rain in resort now - the rain/snow limit currently about 1800.
