Natives can help you find the job - but what will make it easier for you and easier for us is if you have a strong CV.

A strong CV can make a tremendous difference to getting a job. There can often be around 100 applicants for every job so your average employer may spend just 10-20 seconds scanning each CV.

That’s where Natives can help.  Firstly, our advice is respected. Secondly, if you follow our guidelines below, your CV will look better than those of other applicants.

Example CV: This is a great format.

So, before registering your CV with us, please read through and act on these tips:

General Tips:

  • Keep it to two pages, maximum
  • Keep the layout simple
  • Put the most important information on the first page
  • Emphasise your achievements
  • List unrelated hobbies and skills briefly
  • If you have had lots of jobs, list the most recent ones (not your whole life story)
  • Start with the most recent and work backwards
  • Don't go into why you are no longer working at each job listed
  • Don’t include extra testimonials, certificates etc, unless requested
  • Save it in a generic format that can easily be opened by all employers - PDF is ideal
  • Use a spell checker
  • Get a friend/relative to check for typos as well
  • Be honest!

Think about what you are applying for:

The seasonal industry is a people business.

Keep this in mind when you’re doing your CV.  Responsibility in the workplace is important, but for most jobs having social skills more so.

Try and tailor your CV to the job you are looking for.  Chefs, nannies and instructors must have qualifications so focus on these, and experience. For chalet/villa staff catering experience isn’t essential, but if you have some then say so!

If you’re thinking about being a resort representative, then organisational skills become more important.  For resort managers or chalet managers, work on this angle.

Remember, unless you are going for a senior position, employers are not going to expect you to have had experience of working seasons, but by putting the skills they are looking for upfront – ideally on the first page – you’ll make it easier for them to select you.

And here are a few stylish mistakes to avoid…

"Suspected to graduate early next year"
"Proven ability to track down and correct erors."
 "I am a rabid typist."
"Here are my qualifications for you to overlook"
"Am a perfectionist and rarely if if ever forget details"
"I am relatively intelligent, obedient and loyal as a puppy"
"Note: Keep this CV on top of the stack. Use all others to heat your house"
"Also Known As: Mr. Productivity, Mr. Clever, Mr. Fix-it"
"I have an excellent track record, although I am not a horse
"
