THE NATIVES SHOW LOVE TOUR 2009/10

The Show Love Tour went out with a bang last Wednesday at the Caverne in Morzine as the final date of the Alpine leg rocked the resort and gave away goodies galore to season workers and holidaymakers alike...

Morzine

The last Show Love Tour party of the 09/10 season in the Alps was held on Wednesday night in the Caverne Bar in Morzine - a pub I have fond memories of. Four years ago I came here for a few beers and Russ the proprietor had organised an air guitar competition. I would never have thought you could organise something so ridiculous in a bar and it go off big style - but it did!

This time round we had Disco Stu, the DJ for the evening, and what a DJ he is. I arrived at around 8pm and was greeted by Russ and his bar manager Paddy. I’d planned on returning to the Three Valleys after the gig but forgot how long a drive it was to Morzine from Val Thorens. Russ pointed me in the direction of a cheap guest house where I went to check in, and when I got back to the bar the boys had decorated the walls with all our sponsors posters and banners. What legends they are!

MorzineWe mixed together the Eristof Black Vodka with lemonade in big giraffe dispensers but, horror of horrors, the ice machine had broken down! Russ had to nip out to the bar next door to borrow some cubes so our drinks could be served ice cold. This is of course essential and by far the best way to sip on an Eristof Black and lemonade. And didn’t it go down well?

The Arsenel v Barcelona game had been on, so the bar didn’t start to fill until about 10.30pm. I stood on the door with Russ and we both wrist banded the guests as they arrived. I was delighted to bump into Sian, a lass I seasoned with five years ago in St Martin, as well as Jules who worked on the stand next to Natives at the Birmingham ski and snowboard Show. Vicky Higgs from Natives was in the bar too, on holiday, so my night got off to a great start as I bumped into loads of old friends I hadn’t seen in ages (not to say that you’re that old Vicky!).

MorzineThe party had a great feel to it and Stu played some awesome tunes. He really knows how to work a crowd and he seemed to play just the right song at just the right time. Our party peeps were up on the benches and tables, singing and dancing to their hearts' content! The seasonairres and holidaymakers alike were having an absolute whale of a time and were dancing round the Caverne like crazy little monkeys!

In between songs we did the raffle draw. Establiea and Chauvel were the first two lucky winners (I didn‘t ask their second names as it took five minutes to get their first names correct!). They were on holiday from Paris and won themselves Ski Club of Great Britain and Natives goody bags that included Warren Smth DVDs, Natives Show Love t-shirts, Aether Mobile global roaming sim cards, plus lots of nice things from the Ski Club. Rob Knibb, who’s working as a chef for Morzine Holidays, won a year's subscription to Falline Ski Magazine. Becky Fabian from Freedom Ski was the lucky lass to take away the cool Blackfly sunnies, whilst Emma Robinson, on holiday from Chester, won herself the ProFeet wheelie bag. Mahwar Mogmo who works at the Coyote bar won one of our fabulous goody bags, but the super cool Greeneye hoody was won by another season worker from Freedom Ski - Hannah Robson.

MorzineThere were some more massive tunes played by Disco Stu for the final hour of the evening, and come last song no-one in The Caverne wanted to go anywhere. It took us some persuasion, but the crowd did eventually start to disperse and grins were fixed to every face that left the bar.

It’s a shame that the tour has now come to an end, but I’ve had an amazing time over the past five months, travelling to Europe’s best resorts and throwing parties that will stick in peoples memories for some time to come.

I really hope I see you again - same time same place next year - for more fun and games in the mountains!
