THE NATIVES SHOW LOVE TOUR 2009/10

Natives Show Love Tour manager Simon Clark brings us the final
installment from the trio of parties in December 09...

RevellersDing ding round three!

Le Bubble Bar in Courchevel 1650 was the venue, and having been eight years since I last worked there - co-hosting a Stars In Their Eyes charity night with Patricia Pemrose - I was intrigued to see how the bar had evolved since my last visit.

I turned up at around 6.30pm to see very steamy windows and hear the sound of pounding live music, but it was coming from the bar next door!

'Bring Your Sisters' were pumping out the tunes in the Boulot restaurant and bar, a small place that had been taken over by Katie, who was the manager of the Bubble bar the last time I was in town. This slightly unnerved me as I wondered if the nucleus and heart beat of nightlife in 1650 had shifted five yards to the place next door.

Crowd in Bubble barStill the place to be...
I should not have worried as come 9.30pm it felt like the entire population of 1650 and 1850 were bustling around the Bubble, eagerly awaiting the start of the evening and the anticipation of perhaps taking home the awesome pair of skis that were being given away in the raffle courtesy of Freeride.fr.

I was also surprised to bump into several guys who were still doing seasons in 1650 eight years on from when I was last there - it felt like I'd never been away.

Season workersWarm, fuzzy and friendly feelings
I truly do love this bar, and Courchevel 1650 in particular, as it must have some of the best seasonaires and holidaymakers in the mountains, and you always receive such an unbelievably friendly and warm welcome.

By 10pm it was the Bubble that had the banging tunes and steamed up windows, and everyone was appreciating their welcome drink that had been supplied courtesy of Eristoff Black. Sipping on their Bloody Blacks, smooth tasting Eristoff black vodka mixed with a splash of cranberry juice and served with lots of ice, the night was off to the perfect start.

Now, there was a huge list of raffle winners as we drew a ticket every 15 to 20 minutes, and to my amazement every ticket we pulled from the bucket had an instant winner. Right up to when we called out the big prize number for the Freeride.fr skis at 12.30am, I didn't have to reach into the bucket and re-draw - not even once!! It shows that when someone sets foot inside the Bubble bar they do not leave until the bar staff call last orders.

Crowd in the BubblePartying Bubble style
The staff, who are employed by Liz and Nick - the owners of chalet company Le Ski - are all very good at their jobs and really seem fulfilled and motivated at work. Jess and Jonny are teamed alongside Matt, Becca, Marcus and Andrew who all helped throughout the night to create the amazing atmosphere that was prevalent inside the Bubble all evening.

Josh Parker from Powder White was first to experience the winning feeling when he won a goodie bag from the Ski Club of Great Britain that included an Aether Mobile sim card for cheap global phone calls and a pair of tickets for the Comedy Festival in Meribel in March.

Vicky Knott, also from Powder White took away the boot bag from ProFeet. John Ernshaw, out on holiday from north Wales, then won one of our Natives goodie bags that also had Altitude Festival tickets plus a Show Love Tour t-shirt.

And more winners...
Toby Hemsley was the lucky chap who won the eye-catching Greeneye hoody, followed by Mark Warner's Alice Sharman who took the Greeneye t-shirt.

Mark Warner's Lizzie Blount then won the Blackfly sunnies, with Marcus Parrott and Alan Beverly winning the Fall line Skiing and Document Snowboard magazine subscriptions respectively.

More Natives and Ski Club bags were given out before the big one, which saw Rob Clark triumphant, nearly making love to his new Freeride.fr skis whilst waltzing round the bar with them with the biggest smile on his face. The skis funnily enough were bright pink and matched Rob’s underwear just perfectly!

I cannot wait for a return trip to the Bubble, it was a total scream and I really enjoyed the Frog and Roastbeef flavoured crisps - there's loads of unusual flavours to munch your way through.

I wish all of you lovely people a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - see you all in Janurary when the Show Love Tour will be back in force in La Tania!
