the verbier red bull xtreme

The serious challenge of the Bec des RossesThe Red Bull Xtreme (held from March 25-26 in 2000) is a full-on event that's well worth catching.

An invitation-only field hit hit the stunning 'Bec des Rosses' and have the chance to show what they can do on 'the mother of all slopes'.

With a gradient up to 45° and 55°, including opportunities for some stunning cliff jumps this is definitely one for the professionals.

Among the favourites are likely to be previous winners Steve Klassens (USA) and Eva Sandegaard (SWE).  Other riders include Serge Cornillat (FRA) and Jarkko Henttonen (FIN), Pepi Ahonen (FIN), Victoria Jamieson (UK), Julie Larson (US) and Peter Bauer (GER).

There will also be a number of other events in Verbier while the Xtreme is on.  This includes the cowfight that leads to the title 'Queen of Cows'!!!

Officially cowfighting is an ancient Valais' tradition. 'In spring as the cows leave their winter stables for greener pastures at a higher altitude they go through a series of eliminators fight in order to determine who will be the Queen of the pasturage.'

Now that is extreme!
