As in most other workplaces, the more skills you have, the
more employable you are. If you are thinking about working
a ski season, you can also increase your chances of successfully
finding work:
Job
Workshops
If you're thinking about working a winter season, but don't
really know where to start, then a Natives Job Workshop could
be your first point of call.
With specialist advice from the experts, plus Q&A sessions,
they are a great way to guide you through the maze of opportunities.
Workshops are run from our London offices, at Ski Shows &
at unis around the country.
Cookery Courses
If
you're looking for chalet work, a cookery course qualification
will make a significant difference to your chances.
Typically, successful completion of one week cookery course
will persuade an employer that you will be able to run a chalet
competantly. Indeed, our own Natives one week courses are
so highly regarded through the industry, that we guarantee
to find you a job (if you are 21+, with the right passport).
Ski/Snowboard
Technician Courses
Rental shops, both in the UK and overseas, all need competent
staff. And with safety at stake, experience and qualifications
are even more important.
Anything Technical specialise in training budding ski and
snowboard technicians, and offer fully certified courses in
Kendal and Basingstoke, that are recognised as being the standard
for the industry.
Ski
and Snowboard Instructor Courses
If you are keener to make this something of a career, then
perhaps training as a ski or snowboard instructor may be for
you?
It can be expensive and take some serious dedication, but
ultimately rewarding and can offer year-round work all over
the world. There are many companies out there offering a variety
of courses in different countries, all listed on our Instructor
Course page.
Language
Courses
Another great way of increasing your chances of getting a
job is to improve your language skills. Club Habitat in Kirchberg,
near Kitzbuhel in the Austrian Tirol has been offering language
courses to help job seekers find a job in the snow for the
last five years.
The Aussie-owned property - famous amongst our
Antipodean friends - has great connections with the locals.
While they cannot guarantee you a job, they can point you
in the right direction at the perfect time of year for finding
work. Many existing contacts come to them each year to select
any staff they require for the winter. For more check out
their page on Natives.
