Snow and slalom
Courchevel Dual Slalom It was a fantastic day for skiing, no doubt about it. Probably a better day for blasting the fresh powder through some visibility enhancing trees than racing on a dual slalom course though.

A lot of teams turned up, undeterred by falling snow and a certain amount of fog. Many from Courchevel of course, some from Meribel, a couple from Val D’Isere, one from Livigno, and several wearing about as much clothing as a Geordie hen-party. Jimbo and his team from Bar le Jump soon had spectators and teams alike warmed thoroughly with a BBQ and plenty of beer. By the way, those veggie-burgers definitely had real meat in them – vegetables simply don’t taste that nice.

Bell and Baxter
The racing was knife-edge, head to head, chin to floor carves, steely nerves, staring out, shouting loud kind of stuff. Ski New Generation did an amazing job judging and organising the competitors, and Ally Rainback managed to slip away from running his team to beat five times Olympian Graham Bell down the course. Graham was by no means the only star to attend. Alain Baxter took time out from his extremely busy schedule to hand out the trophies at the end of race prize-giving. It was an honour to meet you, Mr Baxter Sir.

Kalico prizegiving
The main prizes were doled out in the Kalico a couple of hours later, in front of a good turnout of good losers. Thanks to Freeride.fr, Fatface, Pub le Ski Lodge and the Doron Pub in addition to the usual Show Love Sponsors for giving us the stuff to give away. Next week we head to Val D’Isere for skier and boarder cross, and more tension than a scarecrow in the fire-brigade.
