Here is another preview for the Natives Jobs Fair as we tell you all about one of the companies that will be attending.
The Avenue Cookery School specialises in Gap Year and Chalet Cooking Courses. Based in Putney, South West London, the school has an excellent reputation with over 10 years of experience. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at The Avenue can turn even the most nervous beginner into a confident ‘foodie’. Our simple message is that cooking is fun and, with a bit of instilled confidence, most things are possible.
The course on offer is based in South West London is designed to cover all aspects of work in the ski industry, with the primary focus on building your culinary confidence and teaching you the key cooking techniques through detailed demonstrations and hands-on cooking. The course also covers all aspects of hosting, budgeting and shopping as well as menu planning, and knife skills.
Excellent links to companies within the industry are maintained by the school, with particular attention given to the ever changing requirements that many of the companies look for in their employees. Helpful tips on approaching an interview as well as carefully prepared menu plans play an important role in guiding a student to the right job.
The two week course covers all basic techniques of cooking and knife skills, and builds gradually throughout the first week in preparation for the second week which focuses on menu planning, hands-on cooking and presentation. Plenty of opportunity is given to explore individual ideas and, as many students will already have acquired jobs, practising specific recipes is very helpful.
The one week Advanced Chalet Course is ideal for those with more experience who are wanting to sharpen up their skills before heading for the slopes.
The Avenue Chalet Courses will provide you with:-
