Natives Skier/Boarder X in Tignes

08 March 2011 10:23

The new Natives Skier/Boarder X Series has just finished with the successful final stage in Tignes last week... Alex Kurkjian reports:

The final stage of the Natives Skier/Boarder X in association with Natives Clothing, took place up on the Col du Palet Snowpark and luckily we'd had a much needed decent dumping of snow so conditions were good and we had clear blue skies and sunshine!

Serious Series Fans!
The word had got out not only in Tignes but also in neigbouring ones, about the natives Skier/Boarder X event, and everyone was keen to come and enter to win themselves our rather nice prizes, thanks to all our fab sponsors! They knew that there were not only the race prizses but also some seriously good series prizes up for grabs after this final stage!

The racing began..
Everyone rocked up in the morning, a lot having made the trip over from Courchevel, to have a few practise runs of the course, which was definitely the longest and hardest of all three races. Natives' Iain Martin did a Graham Bell style test run - Watch the video action...

Then the real action got going with the individual timed runs. Everyone raced down to get through the qualifyiers and then the seeding was done for the main draws in all four categories: male and female, skiers and snowboarders. The head to head knockout stages got underway and everyone raced down as fast as possible to bag the best prizes... and some were incredibly fast - faster than the Tignes development guys had seen before! Winners list below.

Prize-giving Apres Ski Party
The finals were all done by about 2.30pm giving everyone time to do a few more runs if they wanted before we all descended on The Loop Bar for our amazingly big burgers which they kindly laid on free for us, plus we had free shots of vodka and got to enjoy happy hour. We had the prize-giving everyone was happy to get lots of top goodies thanks to all our sponsors, as well as the best fancy dress, best Tignes season worker prize and series prizes! A big well done to our series winners Louis and Sally who won a customised boot-fit (with free ski boots) at Profeet! The party then kicked off when The Cheerleaders started their set and the whole bar became jam packed pretty much straight away!
