Natives Jobs Fair another success with cracking turnout

Over 500 people stepped foot through the doors of Novotel Hammersmith on Saturday for what became one of the most successful seasonaires’ jobs fairs ever run in the UK. The Natives Jobs Fair provided an immense opportunity for those thinking of doing a season to find out the options available to them, while linking prospective employers up to those who already knew what they were looking for.

While those with CV's were busy filling up some of the last jobs available this season in The Alps, others were chatting to instructor course companies to help find them the best route to some of the top ski and snowboard qualifications around the world.

What sets the Natives Jobs Fair aside is that it is specific for those looking to work winter seasons, with some of the top winter employers on hand to not only offer the latest jobs, but to give advice to those who are not yet sure what they want to do.

After the fair, Leigh Mocock from NothinButSnow, said: “With the winter season only months away, the Natives Jobs Fair was a fantastic opportunity to engage with eager and excited people planning their winter season. It was great to talk snow and help so many with advice and ideas on how they could spend their winter. “

Leigh, who runs ski and snowboard instructor courses in Canada for the company, continued: “For those dedicating their season to completing a ski or snowboard course, it was exciting for us and good fun to explain how our particular courses operate and how much fun they really are!”

Talks and workshops ran throughout the day, with ranging topics from 'A Day In The Life Of A Chalet Host' with Ski World, to ‘How To Become An Instructor’ with Non Stop, through to ‘Season Advice’ from PGL. Natives' own Jim Duncombe gave a solid talk on how to write the best CV and how to deal with interviews in such a competitive industry, while professional snowboarder Chris Southwell gave the room some great advice on choosing the best resorts and more.

The turnout was fantastic as every stand was busy throughout the day thanks to the always perfect format of the Natives Jobs Fair. With winter just around the corner, many people were grateful for what they got out of the day, with many saying that it was really useful to meet face-to-face with their potential employers. Some came knowing exactly what they wanted to do, others came looking for direction, and left knowing exactly where they wanted to go. But for everyone involved, the day was a super success, and we're already looking forward to the next one. Bring on winter!

To top it off, all whom attended were entered into a raffle to win their share of a huge pile of sweet prizes, which included an iPad for one lucky person. We will be announcing all of the winners of these prizes this week, so watch this space!
