Natives Job Fair Preview: The Mountain Cookery School

By Natives_admin, 12 Jun '15 at 16:16

Want to cook in a ski chalet this winter? We run a cookery school for people looking to work in the mountains for a ski season. And because the job is about so much more than great food, we think the cookery school itself should be just as inspiring. That’s why our 7-day course is based in Tignes – one of the highest resorts in the Alps. You’ll live in a chalet and cook every day, meet like-minded people and have the chance to explore Tignes and all it has to offer.

Don't forget to click the link below to register on eventbrite, and be in with a chance of winning a host of ski goodies!

Why choose us?

1. Working in small groups, you’ll learn from the best.

Because you’ll be working in the chalet kitchen itself, groups are no more than 8 people each, led by 2 tutors. Our excellent student to tutor ratio means you’ll soak up a vast wealth of foodie knowledge from people with 50 seasons’ worth of experience between them

2. We’re based in the mountains.

Things in the kitchen change at 2000m above sea level. We’re situated in the ski resort of Tignes (2100m), so you won’t just learn the theory of cooking sky-high (did you know that water boils at about 97 degrees here instead of 100?) – You’ll be putting it into practice from the word go. Learning in situ also means that you’ll be cooking with local and speciality ingredients.

3. It’s about more than just cooking

. As well as equipping you with the skills to become a confident chalet host, The Mountain Cookery School will teach you plenty of other key skills for completing a ski season. These include health and hygiene, time management and how to look after yourself in the mountains.

4. You’ll get a taste of chalet life.

Our courses take place in a selection of ski chalets where you’ll be living and cooking. This means you get to try out a chalet kitchen and sample chalet life first-hand.

5. You’ll experience the work-hard/ play-hard ethic of a season worker.

Let’s face it – part of doing a ski season is the amazing social side. So while you’ll be focusing hard each day on perfecting your culinary skills, you’ll also have the chance to explore Tignes and make friends with like-minded people. This is what ski seasons are all about!

6. Complete the course and you’re guaranteed a job.

If you successfully complete the course, you’ll be guaranteed a position with an established, reputable UK tour operator. What kind of cookery school could better prepare you for the high-altitude life of a season worker? Don’t miss out on our special early bird booking offer! Book before the 10th July and get £50 off the course fee!
