Following our previous reports
(see below), Natives can now confirm that the closure of
the Doron Pub and Scotts was indeed due to a review of their
Fire and Safety classification.
In this instance, the authorities
decided that since the last review four years ago, circumstances
have changed and new measures were necessary.
Previously establishments have
been allowed extra time to make the required changes, but
following the Mont Blanc Tunnel and Corsican stadium disasters,
the French authorities have not been taking any chances
and closed both properties immediately. Natives understands
that similar action has been taken against French-owned
establishments, which ends theories of a anti-British motivation.
The hotel and Scotts will not
open again this season and renovation will be done this
summer. Le Pub will reopen for business tonight (Monday)
for the first time in a week.
