Two of Méribel's most popular bars were dramatically prevented from opening yesterday and staff given the night off.  

Reports are unclear at present as to the reasons.  Rumours range from a a breach of health and safety to the employment of illegal workers.   

Last week, an Australian worker in the Plein Soleil in Mottaret was questioned by police about his visa status.
