A surprisingly high turnout marked the first day of
racing at BUSC. The early start of 0800 failed
to deter the racers for the Men's Team Giant Slalom,
which produced one of the highest standards in recent
years.
Andrew
Freshwater of Strathclyde narrowly pipped Chris Walker,
Bristol, to the post with 1:07.02. Tessa Pirie,
Edinburgh, convincingly won the Women's race by 6
seconds from Laura Westmacott. Jamie Allason
of Heriot Watt won the Men's B race.

The
afternoon saw a Boarder Parallel Slalom full of cool
dudes, apart from an incident when a boarder tried
(pretty effectively) to remove the legs of one of
the finish judges. She ended up with a broken
rib - the boarder was unhurt.
