Europe’s most expensive lift ticket looks set to continue to be the Zermatt - Aosta Valley cross Swiss-Italian border ‘International’ lift pass next season.

The International Ticket, valid for six, seven, 13 or 14 days, covers all the lifts of the various lift companies around the Matterhorn and along the Aosta Valley - around 1000km of pistes. The six day pass will cost SFR 392 next season - around £169 at current exchange rates..

A second cheaper variant of the pass which just covers the lift linked terrain around the Matterhorm above Zermatt, Cervinia and Valtournenche, 400km of runs, is SFR 374 or £161. A Zermatt lifts only ticket is SFR 332 or £143.

Other pricey resorts
Other six day tickets at the more pricey end of the market in the Alps include the Paradiski Pass (EUR 229 - £154) and the Three Valleys (EUR 210 - £141).

In Switzerland the Saas Pass including Saas Fee is SFR 327 (£141). The Engadin Pass which includes St Moritz is SFR 339 (£146), but drops to SFR 265 (£114) in low season.
