LA TANIA WINDS DOWN

06 May 2005

So then end came upon us all very quickly with some fabulous snow conditions and the whole mountain to ourselves. Easter wasn't as busy as everyone thought it would be with it being rather early this year but there was still plenty of time to party.

Welcome back Liz
We caught up with Natives rider Liz Miller and Russel Docker after winning the Adaptive Ski Champs in Meribel - they danced as hard as they ski to the last Shibboleth gig for the season at La Tsaretta in Les Allues.

Liz used to work behind the bar in the Ski Lodge - so will always be a part of the La Tania family, - go hard girl! (More on the British Adaptive Ski Team)

Strange goings on
The season rolled on to the end with some great snow, a few sackings and walk outs and several break-ins to bars and restaurants around La Tania and Courchevel. The pubcam got nicked from the Ski Lodge but the laptop and camera were then found in a ditch a couple of days later - bizarre...

La Tania Charity day
And so on to the massive Charity Day at the end of the season. Hog Roast, BBQ, Mullet playing live on the terrace all afternoon, silly games, a ski race (on anything), more silly games, fancy dress, the saisonnaires poll, ski school tug of war, charity auction and raffle, lots of cheap drinks and one huge hangover the next day. A fantastic new record of €17,000 raised on the day - well done to all involved!

A special mention to Billy and Greg for their Mount Cook Challenge (plus Gibb, Tim Wall & Sandy who did some of it). They skinned up to the Col de la Loz at the top of La Tania FOUR times in a day starting at 04:30am - some 4,000 metre of vertical and raised loads of cash for Charity Day - well done, you madmen.

So long, farewell...
So as everyone disperses (mainly to the South of France, New Zealand, the Greek Islands or London) La Tania once again goes to sleep until July and August when the lifts open up for hikers and bikers and all the Summer activities take hold - the Tour de France returns again this year on 12th July.

Until then, there's lots of maintenance and building work to be done and the start of the work on the automatic turnstile system being introduced to the Three Valley lift system (similar to Les Arc / La Plagne) for next season - as revealed in our January update.

See you at the Ski Show
Thanks to everyone for a great season, have a good Summer!
