First Brit to take the title
Dan Wakeham, Nike ACG sponsored snowboarder has been confirmed as the Europa Cup Halfpipe champion for 2005 – the first Brit ever to win the Championships.

Dan secured his winning place after the final event in the Europa Cup was cancelled due to poor conditions in the venue, Garmish Partenkirchen in Germany, on 9 April.

Dan’s lead of 100 points going into the event meant that he was immediately confirmed as the Europa Cup Halfpipe Champ for 2005.

By winning the Cup, Dan will gain automatic entry into every Halfpipe World Cup event next year taking him one step closer to his dream of securing a place in the British Olympic team for Turin 2006.

Olympic challenge
Without the title of Europa Champ, the UK is only allocated 2 places for each event which limited Dan to 2 starts this year – making Olympic selection extremely difficult as 2 top 25 finishes are needed to meet the selection criteria for the British Olympic squad.

7th place in Piancavallo (Italy)
