LIZ MILLER - UK CHAMPION

05 April 2005

- BRITISH ADAPTIVE LADIES SLALOM CHAMPION!

- BRITISH ADAPTIVE LADIES DOWNHILL CHAMPION!
- BRITISH ADAPTIVE LADIES OVERALL SKI CHAMPION!

Natives-sponsored adaptive skier Liz Miller updates us on the latest of what has been a very successful season so far...

"The British Adaptive Ski Championships took place in Meribel from March 19-26. The weather was glorious but a little too nice and a number of races had to called off due to the soft snow. The races ran alongside the British Land National Ski Championships for the adult able-bodied racers.

"We started on the Sunday with two Downhill training races. The actual race went ahead on the Monday. I won the Ladies Downhill title skiing only 7 seconds slower than some of the able-bodied racers.

"We attempted to run the Super G for the next two days but unfortunately due to the very soft snow it was deemed to dangerous to run a speed event. Therefore we went ahead with the Giant Slalom on Thursday. Unfortunately I did not manage to finish this race.

"Friday saw the last race of the week - Slalom. This went well (beating all the male and female disabled skiers) and hence I won the title of the British Adaptive Ladies Slalom Champion. I even managed to beat one of the able bodied racers!

"Because of my two wins at this race event I was crowned the BRITISH ADAPTIVE LADIES OVERALL SKI CHAMPION. All in all, a very successful week!"
