This year will see the tenth staging of the famous Verbier Xtreme
contest, which has grown to become, the organisers believe, “the
greatest manifestation of freeriding in the world.”
Taking
on the Bec des Rosses
From 18-20 March, 28 of the world’s best free riders - 16 boarders
(four of them women) and twelve male skiers, will be getting to
gether to share their passion and demonstrate their talent on the
rocky north face of the Bec des Rosses with its 45 - 55 degree pitches.
The event provides a breathtaking spectacle for the thousands of
spectators gathered on the Col des Gentianes.
Francine Moreillon, twice freeride world champion and a pioneer
of the contest states, “All the craftsmen of the Xtreme have given
so much of their time and their passion to build an event like no
other. They have been able to create a great family, help people
find their calling, share their dreams and present to the general
public what, until the launch of Xtreme, was considered a marginal
activity."
Living freeride from the
inside
"The magic of freeriding can’t be explained; it has to be lived
from the inside, on the mountain, in the parties, in its joy and
its pains.”
