The
world's best junior snowboarders to compete in the Billabong World
Junior Pro. The international snowboard competition for riders under
20, is running March 01-05 at the snowpark of la Toura, in Les 2
Alpes (France). This is recognized as a specialty event on the TTR
(Ticket To Ride), the official circuit of pro snowboarding.
Invites and qualifiers
The slopestyle event will gather a total of 36 snowboarders; 20
of them are invited by Billabong and 16 qualified via Billabong
Junior Pro events worldwide (New Zealand, Australia and Canada)
and VZ Trials events in Europe (Greece, France, Netherlands, Italy,
Switzerland, UK, Sweden and Spain). There will also be a girl session
and evening rail jam session during the competition.
Big prize fund
The winner of the Billabong World Junior Pro will receive 10,000
Euro prize money along with an invite to the Arctic Challenge --
the final event of the TTR and the most recognized event on the
tour (which was created by snowboard legend Terje Haakonsen).
The "Tristan Picot Memorial Trophy" will be allocated to the most
promising amateur rider. The winner will receive 2000 Euro prize
money and media exposure in the pan European snowboard magazine
Method Mag. The "Tristan Picot Memorial Trophy" was created in 2004
in memory of Tristan, a Billabong team snowboarder who lost his
life in an avalanche in January 2003.
Competition schedule
The event will start on tuesday march 1 (check-in), with the training
sessions on march 2, the first round of the competition on march
3 , along with the rail jam session in the evening. The final of
the competition, the girls' session and the prize ceremony will
take place on friday 4 march..
