SKIING ON FOUR SCHEDULE

Miller to apply the pressure?
After a three-week break for the World Championships, it’s back to World Cup duty for both the men and women in Germany and Sweden respectively.

Sunday February 20th - 07:55am - World Cup Skiing:
Today’s programme continues with skiing’s Blue Riband event, the Men’s Downhill. Nick and Konrad will be in Garmisch, in Germany as the daredevil speed merchants take on the treacherous Kandahar course. World Cup leader Michael Walchhofer will be more wary than many of the competitors, as in the past two seasons this piste has proved to be his nemesis.

With just a 53 point lead over the newly crowned World Champion Bode Miller, Walchhofer will be doubly wary and desperate to avoid making any mistakes. For Miller, who finished 28th here last season, it provides a great opportunity to pile the pressure on Walchhofer.

With the cancellation of Kitzbuhel earlier in the season, Garmisch is hosting, alongside its own Downhill, the Kitzbuhel replacement, so Walchhofer, Miller and all will have to take on Kandahar twice. Finlay Mickel must be the most improved skier in the World Cup, and his 11th place finish in the World Championships, just .48 of a second away from a podium finish, will surely give him even more confidence to attack the course.

Monday February 21st – 01:40am - World Cup Skiing:
Nick and Konrad give a full round-up of all of the weekends action from Garmisch. This year Garmisch hosts two Downhills, one that replaces Kitzbuhel, plus a look at what happened in the Super G. The Women’s tour moved on to Are in Sweden for a Super G and a Giant Slalom, Patrick Winterton recounts the best of the action.

Wednesday February 23rd – 01:55am - World Cup Skiing:
The Nordic World Cup coverage continues with Ski Jumping. Huge crowds are expected for the biggest event of the year in Zakopane in Poland. Can local hero Adam Malysz beat the man of the moment, the Flying Fin, Janne Ahonen? There will be massive support for all of the athletes from the knowledgeable Polish crowd but if Malysz can pull off a win here, the party will last all night.

Friday February 25th – 03:15am World Cup Snowboarding:
Tonight the snowboarders are taking part in the Big Air competition in Turin, Italy whilst the freestyle skiers are performing their acrobatics in the Moguls, Dual Moguls and Aerials in Deer Valley, USA. Patrick Winterton and Richard Cobbing cover the best of the action.
