SNOW IN AUSTRALIA

Snow falls in Victoria's Alpine regions
Snow fell in Victoria's alpine regions in the wake of wild storms which lashed parts of the state and heavy snow was reported in alpine regions. Despite temperatures of 36 degrees earlier in the week, it was snowing at the ski resorts of Falls Creek and Mt Hotham, with further snow predicted throughout the day.

Winds remain strong in the region but both resorts are blanketed in white, with snow continuing to fall. Falls Creek spokeswoman Debbie Howie said it was "literally like winter out here now".

Four seasons in one week
"Early in the week it was hot, about 36 degrees, and we hadn't had rain for a while and we were told of bushfire concerns," she said. "Well I can tell you that there certainly isn't any danger of a bushfire now."

The resort had already recorded around 12cm of snow and it was expected to continue falling throughout the day.
