SHOW LOVE TOUR HITS THE SOUTHERN ALPS

14 January 2005

Quantum parties
In the interest of Showing even more Love, the Natives mobile party squad (me) headed south this week, to Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes for the latest stops in the Show Love Tour.

This year, to determine which of the two resorts' staff could go the hardest, we decided to opt for the rigour of a "scientific" experiment.

The StuntsOne band, two bars, two parties
The same venues would be used for both - Smithy's Tavern in each resort. Each bar 'avoids the sameness' with such unerring regularity it would begin to get a bit samey, if they didn't know how to host a party so damn well.

One band would also play for each event: The Stunts, an international collaboration of crowd pleasing super-mutants - like the X-Men, but with more guitars.

The bags crammed with prizes from our sponsors were carefully checked so that both resorts received exactly the same freebies. And random testings were taken to ensure levels of debauchery were well beyond EU recommended limits.

Drunken revelling carefully calculated
Alpe D'Huez narrowly inched ahead in the numbers of drunken revellers per square metre stakes while Smithy's Alpe D'Huez had more chicks in it per metre sq than les Deux Alpes (and more than Chamonix has within the entire valley...)

Crowd go wild here too!

Wow, look at that...

The results
But the hardcore award, I'm afraid, must go to Les Deux Alpes. Where wristbanded Natives were still going strong even as I was driving away the next morning. A fresh bout may be called for between the Superbars of the South next year.
