Sneaky French speed cam
Ah, the late night airport transfer. Well, sadly it's time to watch out for one more hot spot on your journey. Another new speed camera has gone in – this time situated on the A-road between Geneva and Annecy (en route to the 3 Valleys, Tignes, Val, Les Arcs etc etc).

It’s placed just after Cruseilles where you turn left towards Geneva and hit a bit of dual carriageway. You come come to a right hand bend (where the speed limit drops to 70 kms) and it jumps right out on you - very hard to spot and impossible to slow down if you don't have advance warning. There is also a camera in the tunnel near Moutiers and 2 near Chambery – full details in the La Tania Speed Camera Page.

But I'm driving a UK car
If only caught by a camera and no police are involved at the scene then English registered cars are unlikely to be chased for the fine. French and Swiss hire cars though beware - the hire companies simply pay the fine and charge your credit card (plus an admin fee).

There have been reports recently though that EC countries may "share" their points and drivers caught in France could have points added to their licence in the UK. Some legal experts say that it would be too costly to chase the money across the channel though - that's why they resort to on the spot fines (whilst French drivers get away with it in the UK).
