Boarder and Skiercross
The
AIM (Artificial,
Indoor, Mountain) Series 2004 continues this weekend, 21-22 August,
in Edinburgh.
The National Artificial Boarder / Skiercross Championships is taking
over Midlothian Ski Slope at Hillend, Edinburgh, one of Europe's
longest dryslopes. There will be a purposed built Boarder/ Skiercross
course.
Competitors will compete in heats of
two to four and one or two from each heat will qualify to the next
round, depending on number of entrants. Friendly Slopestyle and
Big Air competitions will be run each day after the Championship
races and a more relaxed Big Air/ Rail Jam Session will take place
in between Boarder/Skiercross & Slopestyle qualifiers and finals
(whilst the judges check the score). Helmets are compulsory for
all under 16.
Local talent and free lessons
Look out for local talents this weekend, such as 12 yr old Murray
Buchan, freestyle skier, and up and coming snowboarders Craig Howie,
Pete Weir and Posy Dixon, who all will defend the Scottish flag
on their home turf. 200 FREE O'Neill snowboard lessons are up for
grabs on the Saturday and Trespass ski lessons on the Sunday. To
get a one hour lesson with a qualified instructor, equipment hire
and an Orange AIM Series goody bag registration can be done online
or by turning up on the day.
