CORONET PEAK OPENS ITS DOORS

09 June 2004

Let it snow...

It would appear that the weathermen in New Zealand are pretty good! The weekend saw temperatures drop, snow on the mountains and even a dusting in Queenstown itself. Conditions also allowed the new snow cannons to run pretty much non-stop all-weekend. As a result Coronet Peak opened its doors at 9am this morning.

Coronet ExpressCoronet is open

Man made snow and beer
Only the main M1 run and the learner area were open, however there was a fair few people up on the mountain to enjoy this season opener. Conditions were as good as could be expected.. hard-pack man-made snow with the odd rock dotted around for good measure, but the sun was out and the bar was open! More snow is still needed, but it will come soon.......

As for the other South Island resorts, Mt. Hutt opened up yesterday. They have the main Broadway run and learners areas open. Snowpark is due to open 12th June, Treblecone 19th June, Cardrona 24th June and the Remarkables 26th June. Bring it on!
