QUEENSTOWN SNOW UPDATE

04 June 2004

Coronet Peak opening delayed
The lack of snow at Coronet Peak has forced the opening of the mountain to be pushed back until at least Tuesday 8th June. The current warm weather has seen the last dusting quickly melt away and conditions are not yet suitable for snowmaking.

Not looking good

Definately shut

A bit bare under the lifts

Weather reports are predicting a change to south-easterly conditions over the weekend which will hopefully see a drop in temperature and maybe even some significant snow. However, the new snow-cannons are ready and Coronet Peak staff claim that they can get the main M1 run and beginners areas ready to open with 40-50hrs of snowmaking.

So fingers crossed for the weekend.... think snow!
