LA TANIA UPDATE

31 March 2004

What happened to the last four months?
Blimey, April tomorrow and only 2 and a half weeks of the season left here (La Tania lifts close on April 18th while Courchevel 1850 main lifts stay open until April 25th). We've still got great snow depths here and although the valley down below is starting to look greener every day there's still lots of skiing and boarding to do. In fact scandal and misbehaviour has been pretty low this year due to the excellent skiing conditions. I'd love to tell you about a certain resident of La Tania who got mixed up in a police drug bust in Meribel - wrong place at the wrong time and is totally innocent - but better not, his reputation, sub-judice etc, etc... As for Mardi Gras... the pics speak for themselves...

St Patricks just a blur
St Patrick's night saw the usual night of mayhem and draught Murphy's on very special offer with a couple of bands playing in the Ski Lodge. Green hair being the order of the day and the excellent Mowgli playing to a mental Happy Hour. Six pints of Murphy's before 7pm being the average intake... We also had the great 2MJ playing twice that week - my biggest memory is everyone going crazy to "Message in a Bottle" from The Police - Why?

It's all for charity, mate
And after some great days of skiing and boarding with long, long lunches in the sunshine we're all gearing up for the biggest party of the season - the La Tania Charity Day on Wednesday April 14th. After the last 2 very successful years raising over 12,000 Euros for Cancer Research, we've got the local Mayor involved now - this means we can open the ski lift after 5pm for our own (silly) race. There's a BBQ with live bands outside on the terrace, lots of games, competitions and this year sees a pole dancing competition, all in fancy dress of course! More details at www.latania.co.uk

So the next report will be the end of season one - where did those 4 months go?
