Skiing on 4 this weekend looks at the colossal battle for
the men’s overall title. It’s a clash between the power, precision
and sheer strength of Herman Maier and the maverick talent of Bode
Miller. With just a mere 8 points between them it is the closest
battle in years. It's off to Lillehammer’s Olympic piste for a Downhill
and a Super G – let battle commence.

Friday’s show as ever takes a look at the best of the action from
the past week, which came from Kransja Gora in Slovenia. Alain Baxter
was looking to get his season back on track as he went in the Slalom.
Bode Miller was looking to close the gap on Maier in the thrilling
race for the Overall title. In the Women’s Overall Anja Paerson
had an opportunity to take a huge lead over Renate Gotschl but could
she take it?
Saturday 6th 07:00am
Saturday Nick and Konrad Bartelski will be in Lillehammer, bringing
a preview of what should be a spectacular weekend’s action. While
rumours persist that Stephan Eberharter will hang up his skies at
the end of the season, he gets talking – on the golf course. He
has the Downhill title pretty much sown-up, only 2 non-finishes
from him and 2 wins from Maier could leave any reason for doubt.
For Bode Miller, he
needs to repeat the ’94 victory of his compatriot, Tommy Moe, who
lifted Olympic Gold here, for Miller to become the first American
skier in 21 year to win a World Cup Overall Title. The Women’s World
Cup is in Levi, Finland for two Slaloms.
Meanwhile, Zoe
Gillings is proving that at just 18 years old, she can take
on the best, most battle hardened Women Boardercross riders in the
world. Zoe’s latest action comes from Joetsu in Japan. Take a look
at her progress, from first steps on ski’s to competing against
the worlds best with some rare archive footage in a profile of her
career so far.

Sunday The Olympic Downhill piste in Lillehammer has been the scene
of some great moments and this years competition looks like adding
to its roll call, in this the penultimate Downhill of the season.
Finlay Mickel has had an in and out season and he would be delighted
to put in a good performance here.
Wednesday 10th - 02:00am
Wednesday night sees the last standalone snowboard show of the year.
It's off again to Joetsu in Japan for a full run down of the men’s
and women’s World Cup events, including Boardercross and Half Pipe
action. Expect plenty more from Zoe Gillings. Also Kari Traa and
Jennifer Heil continue their season long battle for supremacy in
women’s Moguls, which looks like going right to the wire.
In the men’s Moguls
Finland’s Janne Lahtela, who has 4 victories to his name this season
and is leading the standings, is coming under pressure from the
American duo of Toby Dawson and Jeremy Bloom. Bloom has been responsible
for some of the season best face plants, which makes it surprising
that he is still in with a shout. The action comes from Spindleruv
in the Czech Republic with a look at the Parallel Slalom.
Thursday 11th - 01:30am
Thursday is also the final standalone Nordic show of the year and
check out Salt Lake City for Ski Jumping. Leading the series is
Poland’s Adam Malycz, who sports a Biggles style tache. Will it
keep him airborne though? Finally covered is Cross Country and Nordic
Combined action from Oslo.
