MOST PROMISING YOUNG RACER AWARD

26 February 2004

Seven year old star
This years Natives Award for Most Promising Young Racer has been won by seven year old Flora Peel from Gloucester Ski Club. Flora, who only started racing in 2003, has taken to the sport incredibly naturally. When you combine this with her dedication to training, the coaches at Gloucester believe that Flora could be one of the stars of the future.

Racing in the Summer Race League for the first time last year, she dominated her age group, and placed higher than many people twice her age. This year we hope to see Flora racing against Britain’s best in national races, and competing on snow at the English Championships in Puy-St-Vincent.

Flora is just one of several very young racers from Gloucester making their mark on the national scene. Last years award winner, Tom Walsh (now aged 10), has continued to improve and was on the podium at several Club National and Celtic Cup races over the summer. Tom will be training with the British Ski Academy over the coming months, and is currently lying third overall in Gloucester Ski Clubs interclub race league.

Everyone at Gloucester Ski Club and Natives would like to wish Flora and Tom continued success in their ski racing careers.
