Highest Chair Lift in the World Opens For Season

A winter storm that moved through Colorado this weekend, brought a foot of new snow to Loveland SkiArea bringing the ski area’s one week snowfall total to over two feet (60cm). The new snow means additional lift and trail openings including the legendary Chair #9 this week.

This famed chair lift, the highest in the world, provides skiers and riders access to an additional 400 acres of terrain, known as The Ridge. Chair #9 awards Loveland Ski Area bragging rights to the highest chair lift served terrain in the world. Reaching a maximum elevation of 12,700 feet, Chair #9 offers stunning 360-degree panoramic views and an expanse of open bowl skiing and steep chutes directly off the eastern side of the Continental Divide.

The opening of the Ridge will give skiers and riders another 150 acres of terrain to choose from, including the expert terrain of Patrol Bowl and the intermediate cruiser, Rookie Road. Another winter storm expected to reach the mountains late Tuesday should enable Loveland to open additional terrain on The Ridge as weather and conditions allow.
