VT PISTEURS IN LUCKY ESCAPE - PICS

Regular visitors to Natives will have seen our article on 17 January about two Val Thorens pisteurs who narrowly missed serious injury following an unexpectedly large avalanche slip on Wednesday morning.

Many of the lifts had been closed during blasting as a safety measure to ensure pistes were free avalanche risk. In this instance above the funitel Peclet a larger than expected volume of snow slipped off the glacier burying a mountain restaurant, a pisteur hut and took the roof off the top station of the funitel.
