GB TEAM BRITISH SLOPESTLYE CHAMPS

Orange British Snowboard Slopestyle Championships
Last Thursday 22 Jan, thirty-four of the British snowboard elite, fought gale force winds to compete in the Orange British Snowboard Slopestyle Championships, in association with O'Neil. This inaugural event took place in the famous snowpark in Les Deux Alpes, France, on a champion's course purpose-built for the occasion.

Great Britain team member, Tyler Charlton, topped the men's event. Acclaimed European head judge, Dani 'Kiwi' Meyer said of his winning run 'Tyler Charlton was, by far, the most experimental snowboarder of the day, clearly demonstrating the skills that have earned him a silver passport to the 2006 Olympics in Turin.'

Fifteen year old star
The women's event was won by Laura Berry, who at just 15 is one of the youngest GB Team members. The judges said 'Laura Berry was the most complete and progressive female rider, who perfectly adapted her style to the harsh weather conditions and technical challenges of the course.'

This is the first time in the 13 years of the British Snowboard Championships that one of the disciplines has been taken out of the main week of competition to be run as a stand alone event. The Orange Snowboard Slopestyle Championships represent the preferred style of riding in Britain and the discipline has been granted its own event to help raise the profile of snowboarding.
