Success in Kreischberg
Lesley McKenna still retains her world number one ranking in the
FIS women's half pipe standings after finishing second tonight in
the World Cup event in Kreichberg, Austria.
Despite finishing only 0.2 of a point behind Sophie Rodriguez of
France, a replacement World Cup event, for the competition lost
in Laax in November.
New tricks
'There are still three events to go so there is plenty left to do.
The competition for the series was bound to be hard fought this
season. Second tonight is another great result, but clearly I am
disappointed to miss out on tomorrow's final. Tonight I am still
top' said McKenna. 'I tried a few new tricks in qualifying for tomorrow,
I learned from that experience and I made up for my disappointment
in tonight's final. I feel much better now.'
McKenna's routine in the final included successive front side and
back side 540 degree spins into a 720, a series she had not completed
before in competition. For now, at least, McKenna maintains her
position at the head of the FIS World Cup Halfpipe rankings.
