BURTON OPEN 2004 IN LIVIGNO, ITALY

04 December 2003

Not long now
The Burton European Open is just around the corner and hits Livigno from 10-17 January, 2004, one of the biggest riders-driven event in Southern Europe. Where snowboarding came from, where it is now, and where it is going, is the key to this year's theme of Evolution, Revolution.

On the contest side, the Burton European Open features Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Any rider can register on-line, but hurry, as spots are filling up quickly. For the first time in any snowboard event, Slopestyle opens up with specific lines for women and kids. Over fifty invited riders will compete against pre-qualifier winners in the contests.

Halfpipe and Slopestyle
The pipe, by Claes Högström from Sweden, will be 140m long, just above 5m in height, and constructed according the preferences of some of the best pipe riders in the world, led by Terje Haakonsen. The killer Slopestyle will be designed by Norwegian Lars Eriksen. As always, the elements remain a surprise, but expect tables, quarters, rails and kickers to suit all.

Apart from prize money, the Burton European Open, as part of the Ticket to Ride (TTR) Snowboard Series is offering two Tickets to Ride for the lucky winners of the Men's Slopestyle and Halfpipe. New to this year are the TTR Qualifying Events, where the winner joins the invited list of riders in Men's Slopestyle and Halfpipe.

Rider judged
The Burton rookie team will be out in force, and judging is based on pure jam sessions, by riders - stars from both past and present, with German Alex Schwan as Main Judge. For more information about rider line-up and other related news visit the official site.
