Midlothian Snowsports
This weekend, on Saturday 29 November, over 100 of the top student
skiers and snowboarders from across Scotland will compete in the
Scottish Universities Snowsport Championships at Midlothian Ski
Centre, Edinburgh.
Known as SUDS, the competition is unique to snowsports, with skiing
and snowboarding both catered for with a full race and freestyle
programme. An individual GS and team dual slalom will take place,
as well as a Slopestyle battle, where the top freestylers will go
head to head with each other on the jumps and rails.

Stiff competition
The day will kick off with the first race, a GS from the top of
the slope with the boarders leading the way. Past winner, Eilidh
McNicoll from Glasgow University will be hoping to defend her win
last year in the ski GS and possibly score the double by winning
the snowboard GS in which she came second last year. However ex
British team skiers Louise Hartley and Mairi Crawford, both Dundee
University, will be looking provide a serious challenge.
In the Snowboard slopestyle battle Lyndsey Thomson and Posy Dickson,
both Edinburgh University, will be battling for top honours, with
both winning titles last year , while the skiing looks like being
dominated by Lorne Cameron of Strathclyde University. The male ski
and snowboard races are wide open with the previous winners having
graduated.
All day tunes
All spectators that are willing to brave the Scottish weather in
late November are welcome to attend and can also look forward to
commentary and tunes all day, with a slopeside bar open for the
day. The after party will be hosted from 8pm in Bambu with music
by Manga DJ G-Man and special offers drinks throughout the night.
