THE WELL KEPT SECRET OF ENGLEBERG

25 November 2003

Swiss keeping quiet

If you've been poring over the photo shoots in this year's ski magazine, you will have noticed Jon Olssen and Henrik Windstedt flying through fresh powder, not in Chamonix, La Grave or Mammoth, but in the Swiss resort of Engleberg.

Chances are you've never heard of it...cool, let's keep it quiet! Engleberg is one of the few remaining secrets in the Alps.

Top riding, no queues
The ski terrain of Engleberg had been compared to Chamonix twenty five years ago. No crowds, few queues — and a 2038m vertical descent from a top point of 3028m. Whatever the conditions, there’s always a wide choice of off-piste routes, including some incredible glacier skiing.

The Natives team will be checking out Engelberg first-hand in February and we'll be posting our report here, but if you're keen, there's no need to wait (just don't cut our lines!)

All inclusive weekends
Edinburgh operators, Snowride Mountain Adventures have custom designed three day, fully inclusive, off-piste adventures, including:

• Services of qualified mountain guides for three days
• Three days lift pass
• Three nights half-board accommodation in The Hotel Terrace 3* Plus
• Comprehensive insurance for the period covering all off piste adventures
• Use of avalanche transceivers, shovel and ABS backpack (inflatable in the event of avalanche)
• Some of the best skiing / boarding you will ever have!
