Savoie
celebrations
The resort of Méribel kicked off the winter season with a
celebration party at the Xscape snowdome in Milton Keynes yesterday.
There were many Savoie specialities, including cold meats and raclette,
and lots and lots and lots of wine...
This year Méribel
is hosting the British National Championships
in March & April 2004 and some of the French and British althletes
came along to Milton Keynes.

Rossignol were there with all the latest skis for everyone to try,
and the Meribel ESF did some interesting 'formation' displays, watched
from the warmth of the bar by all the guests. Most notable were
the two boarders who ballroom-danced their way down the slope (the
singlular style could be put down to the traditional pistie booze
stash at the top of the piste?).

Not long now
The party was organised by Jean Marie Choffell, the Tourist Office
Director in Meribel. There were lots of people, lots of food and
lots of friendly faces. The highlights were definately champagne
reception and delicious mulled wine to warm you up at the bottom
of the slope. True to form, Méribel showed it's hospitality
(and a bottle of wine to go home with...) - a good start to a good
season, we just need some real snow... bring it on!
