riders, sick jokes and cheap beer
Friday night saw the third annual Union Skate and Snow awards at
the Hammersmith Palais. Hosted by extreme sports comedy duo Christian
Stevenson and Ed Leigh, the evening was an awesome concoction of
top riders, sick jokes, human beat boxes, naked break dancing and
a whole lotta good times all fuelled by a very cheap bar.
Rider Results
The results for the snowboarding section (all voted for by average
joe, punks like you and me) crowned Danny Wheeler as '32 Male Rider
of the Year', Jenny Jones as 'Nikita Female Rider of the Year',
Laura Berry so very rightly voted as the Vans 'Rookie of the Year',
Burton as the 'Orange Best Team' and of course Terje Haakonsen as
the 'Best International Rider'.
  
Cuban Brothers
AND Dirty Sanchez
Entertainment throughout the night was mind blowing. The Cuban Brothers
with sordid tales of their chicas, Christina Agiullera and incestual
relationships ended the night stripping down to butt ass nakedness
pulling some amazing break dance moves in the process.
Dirty Sanchez (as far
as I can tell they’re a Welsh Jackass) provided a short, yet very
memorable little act… highlights being when one guy painfully shot
himself in the willy with a BB gun and another put a fish hook through
his ear, tied a heavy lead weight to the end then threw it ripping
his ear lobe wide open. Now that’s entertainment...
 Have
we got to wait a whole year?
Finally Killa Kela blew us away with his unreal skill at multi-vocalism
creating musical patterns, sound effects and rhythms using nothing
other than a microphone.
A truly memorable night ended in a blur……bring on next year.
