BASE CAMP TRAINING CAMPS

04 November 2003

Ski Training Camps
Freeride is a real buzzword in the industry just now, and if you fancy improving your skills, a training camp can give you what it takes. Base Camp Group are extending their existing instructor training programme in Meribel this winter to include Freestyle, Racing & Freeride Camps.

The camps last one week and focus on developing progression in a particular discipline. Each morning is spent learning new techniques with the afternoons spent putting these into practice. Off-snow work consists of video analysis, evening workshops and daily feedback sessions. Base Camp Group believe this approach helps break down barriers and gives you the confidence and belief to achieve your goals.

Top Class Coaches
Base Camp Group have brought together some of the top coaches from across Europe chosen for their enthusiasm, professionalism and ability to get results. They include Pierre Francois Papet (10 years French Downhill Development Team), Arnaud Rougier (Current French Freestyle Team), Julien Lopez (2003 Results: Rip Curl Invitational 5th, Oakley Big Air 4th, Cham Jam 2nd) and Arnaud Bruchez (Coach of Ski Club Verbier).

Freestyle, Racing or Freeride?
Freestyle - This intensive camp looks at both park & pipe manoeuvres covering grabs, flips and rotations. Composure in the air is key to progressing quickly and the coaches focus on developing your balance and technique. Whether your personal goals are pulling your first 360 or developing to a repertoire of tricks to break out into the competition scene, our coaches understand what it takes technically and mentally to reach the top.

Racing - This is the best way to develop your technique & this demanding camp is designed to improve technical and tactical ability. Skiing aggressively and increasing your speed through gates is paramount to this and the coaches combine technical sessions with gate training to help with particular skills while developing all-round technique.

Freeride
- Whether you prefer conventional short radius turns or more progressive forms of riding, these camps develop your technical ability as well as a greater understanding of the environment in which you ride. Keeping a composed upper body and learning to be more subtle in your leg work are just some of the skills you develop as you learn how to ski particular lines and blend drop-offs into your descent. (NB All camps are skiing only for this year)
