Scottish victory down under
Unknown Scottish skier Dave Biggin stole the show last Friday night
taking first place in the Men's Ski Division of the annual Methven
Big Air in Canterbury, NZ. A total of 34 snowboarders and skiers
hurled themselves down a 16 metre high floodlit ramp covered with
60 cubic metres of snow from Mt. Hutt.
Dave's performance blew the 9500 strong crowd away pulling switch
900's, rodeos and flips. The currently unsponsored skier went away
with first place easily in the bag over big names such as Nick Draxl
from Australia and Kiwi's Brad Prosser from Queenstown and Sam Hazeldine
from Wanaka. Dave Biggin is gonna be HUGE.
NZ takes boarding title
An 18 year old last minute entrant from Christchurch, Robett Hollis
took first place in the men's Snowboarding division, landing frontside
720 Melon spins with style and precision beyond his years. Head
Judge Richard Owen said "It's an amazing result for him but he stepped
up to the mark, did exceptionally well and landed cleanly."

Bourbon and fireworks
The night became more of a full on fiesta as the crowds became stoked
to witness the evenings display - the sponsors Woodstock Bourbon
may have also contributed to the major party atmosphere. The comp
was followed by massive fireworks and performances from hip hop
artist Che Fu and the Salmonella Dub Soundsytem.
An awesome night with results to inspire us all - it's not just
big names and sponsored riders who always get the limelight...so
get out there and grab some for yourself!!
