Biking, booze and plenty of stitches
Plenty of locals still haven't gone home from Winter yet as La Tania
bakes under hot, hot temperatures all summer. With Val Thorens being
closed (again) this summer and the glacier in Tignes suffering in
the hot weather there's been more of a focus on Mountain Biking
(well, downhill biking) this summer. Much more dangerous than skiing
or boarding - a broken arm, collar bone, 14 stitches and lots of
cuts & bruises in the last couple of weeks alone - that's just the
locals!

What's New
Work is underway on the 4-man high speed quad replacing the Creux
and Fruit drag lifts (the really steep starting ones) between Courchevel
1650 and 1850.
Some seriously vicious speed bumps, new street lights and a Basketball
court for summer in La Tania. Major Piste reshaping on the ridge
served by the Biollay lift in Courchevel 1850 and the Meribel pistes
are seeing a lot of reshaping / erosion prevention / drainage work
too.

Annecy Road Trip
Nineteen locals camped out on the lakeside at Annecy last weekend
to check out the huge fireworks display. A day of BBQ's, diving
competitions and extreme Frisbee was enjoyed by all (and the inevitable
boozing throughout the night).

Summer Fun
So four weeks to go until everything shuts down until December,
there's still time for lots more BBQs, tennis, golf, drinking in
The Ski Lodge and VTT tracks to be tamed on mountain bikes. Certainly
a good feel to this summer - or is that just the weather?
The Bouc Blanc Race is a run from the
La Tania Tourist Office UP to the Bouc Blanc restaurant (around
500m of vertical). Won by a Belgium with Brit Dave Beattie from
Skivolution in second place a minute later.
What
Next?
Lots of talk about what everyone is doing next season, who's staying,
who's leaving, who's working, who's bumming and what they're gonna
do and where they're gonna live. It'll all work out in the end,
the nights are cutting in now, not long 'til the Winter comes.
So Let it Snow...
