The
Aim Series comes to Midlothian Ski Centre
The purposed-designed Slopestyle course started of with the big
air kicker, followed by a hard turn to the left where after the
riders had the choice of a smaller kicker, a rail-to-funbox and
a rail. The idea for the competitors was to pick their own line
down the course including as many obstacles as possible, offering
the judges a fine variation of tricks. The riders were judged over
two runs, from which their overall score were determined to crown
the winner in each age group.
The winners
Grabbing the overall Champion title was Charlie Clark from Sheffield
with a frontside 720 over the big air kicker followed by nose press
to nose slide on the funbox to finish with back-side board slide
on the rail. Second place also went to Sheffield and Stuart Edwards
and third place to local Edinburgh rider Craig Howie.
Strongest female rider of the day was, without a doubt, Mollie Boys
from Halifax, who with a back-side 360 tail grab over the kicker
and a 50:50 over the funbox took home the Champion title before
local lass Nicola Cogan and Philippa Baxter from Hertfordshire.

Slopestyle
The Slopestyle course was re-designed to suit the more aggressive
style of performance of the Freestyle Skiers. A low-rail was added
to the top of the run for some slide action before the big air kicker.
No one could beat 16 yr old Mike Wakefield from Sheffield. He only
started skiing 8 months ago but with his aerial skills and ability
to pick up new tricks nothing will stop him. His champion run that
brought down the house was a railslide to D-spin-7 over the first
rail and big air jump to go straight in to a 360 over the hip to
finish of with a smooth rail-to-revert on the box-rail.
Over at the nursery slope the action
was a bit more horizontal, when just fewer than 100 novices took
advantage of the free snowboard lessons, courtesy of O'Neill.
