NAME YOUR OWN RUN IN NEPAL

21 July 2003

A heli ski company has recently been granted permission to heli-ski in the Annapurna, Everest and Dolpo regions for the first time ever.

Name your own run
Skiers and boarders will be able to make the first descents ever on many slopes, with the added bonus of naming rights as they will be able to give their run an 'appropriate' name, which the company and the Nepalese Ministry of Tourism will record 'for the rest of time'.

Endless amounts of skiing
Although the product is for 'the truly wealthy' the company advises that there are 'endless amounts' of runs available, with slopes that even beginners can handle. However, the product is more suitable for strong skiers who can handle all conditions.

Contribute to one of the world's poorest countries
Nepal is one of the world's poorest countries and dependent on tourist revenue, which provides money for much-needed schools and hospitals, and I encourage you to visit this beautiful country, or indeed the Indian Himalaya, recently visited by Camelia Liparoti.

Environment
All new areas opened up are made in agreement with the Nepalese Ministry of Tourism in a way which pays respect to the native people, the environment and the wildlife.
