EXTREME SPORTS STILL HOT IN THE USA

The Extreme sports in the USA are here to stay, according to a new survey by SGMA. Sports such as snow and water sports. shooting, skating, climbing, running and biking were included.

Snowboarding still rating highly
The survey is based on the US population over the age of six and outlines the most popular extreme sports in the US based on number of participants in 2002 who took part in the activity at least once.

Further statistics
- Since 1990, participation in snowboarding has increased by 263%.
- The average age of a frequent (25+days/year) mountain biker is 30.
- Nearly 7 million of the 21.6 million inline skaters are frequent participants
- The South is the home of 49% of all frequent paintball participants.
- Nearly half of all wakeboarders are between the ages of 12 and 24.
