New
Paradiski Area 'largest in world'
From December 2003, the long planned double-decker cable
car connection between Les Arcs and La Plagne will open, creating
the newly christened ski area of PARADISKI and 'the largest ski
area in the world' (joining the Trois Vallees and Portes du Soleil,
who also claim the title!).
ARC 1950 opens to UK market
The other major development is the opening of Intrawest's new development,
Arc 1950 to the British market, first reported on Natives in December
2001. Arc 1950 is located just below the Aiguille Rouge looking
onto Mont Blanc, and when complete, will be fully self-contained
- with shops, restaurants, bars, ski school, equipment shops, thermal
spa, swimming pools and underground parking.
Heralded as 'what promises to be the most attractive new resort
village in the Alps', the development at last brings North American
standard apartments to the French Alps - something that should prove
a bonus to anyone used to the rather less spacious combinations
of bunk beds and pull out beds.
