SCOTTY'S EXPRESSION SESSION

28 January 2003

Big Air and Slopetyle Event St Anton - Thursday, January 30th 2003
Every year St. Anton's Rendl Mountain plays host to one of the favorite events of the season worker's calendar. The Big Air. Year after year, a bunch of varyingly skilled resort workers hurl their frames off a kicker with pretty much the soul aim of showing off. Prizes, inconsequential, it was always a "been there, got the tshirt" kinda deal.

This year, St. Anton pulls its socks up. As St. Anton continues it's march further up the league of the world's best ski resorts, Mark Warner's Scotty's Bar and the Rendl Bergbahn present an all new Big Air and Slopestyle comp. All amateur, but highly professional in its outlook.

Kickers, rails, spine and tables
In association with Eristoff Vodka, Surfer's Paradise, Flow, Dakine, Nitro, Natives.co.uk, Smith and Piste to Powder this is just a little bit bigger than the single kicker affairs of past years. Including a multiple big air kickers, rails, spine and tables, there will be opportunity for everyone to shine (and more importantly, a better chance for this reporter to overturn his frankly disasterous efforts last year).

Last year's competition was won by the 20 year old Swedish Boarder Marcus Lemke. The skiier side was won by Nick Draxl, who has a habit of turning up on Eurosport every so often. He won with a perfectly executed 900, after wowing the crowd with the smoothest spins and inverts in the comp by far. He's now being covered in a fly on the wall show on Germany's DSF sports channel.

And some not so serious stuff
Thankfully there is so much on offer this year, that even if the next Nick Draxl turns up there will be reason for the rest of us to compete. There will be jumps to cater for everybody, and a fancy dress entry as well as the more orthodox open and intermediate sections.

The after party in Scotty's (naturally) will see raffles and giveaways with big prizes. It willkick off at 6.30pm on the day of the comp. Raffle tickets free as part of the competition entry. Wahey!

All of this and more, and the entry is only 20 Euros! See you all there!
