This
last week has been MUCH MORE LIKE IT!
With morale looking a little low as snow conditions seemed
to be getting worse and worse last week, we decided on a day
trip to Annecy on Monday with Rob and his cool bus for a change
of scene and a few hours' look at the 'real world'.
A brisk (and crazy) February dip in the lake by 3 of the Planet
Subzero lads must have been enough to finally convinced the
snow gods we were prepared to make sacrifices ...And lo and
behold, the very next day, IT SNOWED!!! For a whole day and
a whole night. Enough to cover the rocks, make the pistes
all fluffy and sweet, and see us suffering through the hangovers
and 4 hours sleep to make first lifts with determined smiles
clamped to our faces. And so worth it. So worth it in fact
that the hard core managed to keep on partying until 6am (but
didn't quite get up again in the morning).
Powder mornings ...
Wahhoooooo! Powder time! Finally we've been able to show the
guys in the chalet some of what Les Arcs has to offer. We've
also been hiking the chicken run - for 2 hours of magical
p..o..w..d..e..r and not a soul in sight (goes without saying
not recommended without a guide, tranceivers, map, chicken
pass etc).
The Naked Huck Fest:
Then the highlight of the week was the
Naked Huck Fest! Born from the desire to get everyone doing
seasons in the Les Arcs area together and get to know each
other, it turned into a massive one ... Big thanks to the
Mont Blanc for sorting out the BBQ and beers and to Gordy
for building the kickers ... Plus to DJ Chris Cracknell from
Chill Chalet for keeping the crowd happy with cool tunes.
Not to mention Cheers to everyone from Les Arcs, Vallandry,
Bourg and Nancroix for turning up!
The Naked Huck fest was the first ever (non-serious) jumps
event held in Vallandry. Aimed at anyone of any ability -
with prizes for best jump, best costume, worst crash, most
original and most naked ... the turn out was brilliant - and
the atmosphere rocked. Check out the Planet
Subzero website for full photo gallery, tales from the
day, and winners in each category.

All in all - a great week. Now settling
down to school holidays, dodging kids in helmets, watching
lycra clad weirdos in the olympics and making sure we're only
on the slopes from 12-2 when the whole of France stops for
lunch.
Take it easy - and feel free to send
us some more snow - any sacrifice or original idea for contacting
the snow gods gratefully accepted ...
