Boozeing in Salt Lake?
Although not completely dry, there are places to go and those
who make the effort will be able to wet their whistle. A word
to the wise may be 'go with the flow'. I have lived here for
over twenty years and only twice was I literally denied a
beverage, both times in Provo and both times I walked out.
Downtown Salt Lake will be the best place for finding party
goers and Main Street Park City will probably be wall to wall
people. They are much more accustomed to that in Park City
as many people from many nations have been coming up to ski
there for a long time. Be patient and remember "when
in Rome...".
Huge
Murals
Preparations are winding down and the decorations are going
up. Huge building size murals have been installed at every
venue and randomly in the downtown area.
The buildings are not gigantic
but seeing a hockey goalie that is 15 stories tall is still
awesome.

Last Saturday I was able to go up and help set up some tents
for 'worker city' and a photo of that is attached as well.
The tents will house all the
equipment necessary to put on the 6 speed events.
Hundreds
of hours have gone into planning the logistics of the Men's
Downhill event. It really is a monumental effort to try and
pull off as many events as they are, all at once.
Insiders are saying that "Black Tuesday" will be
the worst and they are warning ALL locals to stay away from
Interstate Highway 80 all day as it will be a parking lot
for most of the day.
Want to know when that will be?
Tune in just after the opening ceremony with an instalment
on the previous days downhill training (2/7/02).
See ya then
G.O.
