Bring
on the snow, rest the liver...!
Last week's foot of powder
was tantalisingly good - giving us permanent grins, achey
legs, and good reason to get up early (3 days in a row on
first lifts!) ... I finally made proper use of the triple
xxxs in the powder off the Aiguille Rouge ... 3200-2400m.
Completely untracked - NICE.
But
with only 3 short days to play in it before the rain came
and washed it all away, we've now had to turn our attention
back to the board park (and the booze) to while away the time
until the next snow arrives. Since Monday, conditions have
been firm (read sheet ice) in the mornings and spring-like
(read sloppy slushy muddy) in the afternoons.
New snow was forecast
for last night (didn't turn up), and more on the cards for
next Tues, Weds, Thurs ... fingers xxed. Still, the overall
cover's better than it was 2 weeks ago, and there are definitely
fewer rocks in the pistes.
The
Planet Subzero crew have still been up the mountain every
day, and are all getting to grips with the kickers in the
board park until the new snow arrives. John's getting some
nice grabs, Scott and Rhod have got their confidence up and
are landing pretty much all their jumps, Nev's got his 180's
down, and Tony's pulling 360s off the spine. I've been resting
my twisted knee after a great day in the park on Tuesday ended
in an impressive tumble (3 somersaults with 2 twists) on a
blue run (!) ...
With
all the unseasonably warm weather everyone's finally starting
to look like they're here for the season - Claire and John
are running neck and neck for best tans and Declan (of fair
Irish complexion) is going for his own prize of most colourful
bruises, after his and Tony's impressive arse to arse crash
on Tuesday put him in poll position ...
Beer
(or bad cask wine) has reclaimed its number 1 spot in everyone's
lives, with Sunday's huge roast dinner, Monday's very bad
karaoke, Wednesday's cheap drinks, bowling and cage dancing,
and last night's Beach-come-Mexican party all turning into
MESSY nights out ... Bring on the snow - need to rest the
livers!
Catcha later,
Steph
